CALMAR’S BACKGROUND

Calmar International Ltd. has been an Irish registered limited company since 1990. The company is involved in design, development of training, facilitation of learning and project management. The principals of the company are:- Ms. Nora Byrne, Managing Director and Mr. Ken Page, Director who have a combined 58 years experience in Research, Training and Development and Project Management.

Calmar International Ltd. is a private, independent organisation which has worked extensively on projects both nationally and internationally with collaborative companies in every EU state.

The development of partnerships with public and private enterprises is the result of our commitment to offer high quality services.

PRINCIPALS PROFILES

Nora M.T. Byrne

Prior to setting up her own business in 1990, Nora held several Senior Training Advisory roles in FAS/AnCO and her work included skills appraisal, identifying training needs and establishing relevant training programmes throughout Ireland for all business sectors.

Within Calmar, she has led and managed many National, EU and International projects, innovated new products and services for the business sector e,g, National Training and Continuing Education Directory, and a business to business website, www.irishconsultants.ie

She is an expert in trainer development and competencies. presenter at European conferences and expert on the international committee developing new ISO standard for learning service providers.

She has achieved Entrepreneurial, Management, Business Counselling, Training & Development and Network Management qualifications from Boston College, U.S; Durham University, UK; NUI Galway and DIT.

Her special talents include inspiring people to develop, network and be creative. She is a Fellow of the Irish Institute of Training and Development.

Kenneth W. Page

Ken has been a director of Calmar International for 20 years. He has been a Trainer for over 25 years experience in the Human Resources area. His background and expertise are in IT, Computerised Accounts and Computer Hardware areas which form the content of the courses he delivers.

He is directly involved in the administration of all projects managed by Calmar International e.g.:

Training Resources for Equality and Diversity – TRED ( 2005 – 2007 )

Training Providers Competency Skillnet ( 2008 – 2009 )

He has conducted several research projects and produced reports on behalf of CEDEFOP, Thessaloniki. He is currently studying part time for an Honours Degree in Environmental Science.

• 2010   "E-Learning for All" Leonardo da Vinci programme in partnership with companies in Portugal, Estonia,
  Czech Republic and Romania.
• 2009   Provision of innovative training workshops and programmes to develop creativity, innovation and
  leadership for Training Providers Competency Skillnet.
• 2009   Official launch of "Assuring World Class Competencies for Trainers" Report by Sean Haughey TD. Minister
  for Lifelong Learning.
  Project Managed by Calmar International and commissioned by Trainers Network.
• 2008   Nora Byrne is an expert Member of the International Working Committee to develop new ISO Standard for
  Learning Service Providers with meetings in Berlin, Philadelphia University, USA and Sydney, Australia.

  Official launch of "Training Providers Competency Skillnet" by Sean Haughey TD. Minister for Lifelong
  Learning.
• 2007   www.irishconsultants.ie Launch of new website to promote “Business to Business Consultancy and
  Collaboration.
• 2006   Production of Elearning report for CEDEFOP, EU currently available in 3 languages.
  Publication of the 7th Edition of the National Training and Continuing Education Directory.
• 2005   Successful completion of management of TRED, Training Responses to address Equality and Diversity,
  EU Equal Project on behalf of Trainers Network with launch of Transnational Training Document.
• 2004   Approved Training Organisation on FAS Register of Trainers.
  Under TRED Project, facilitated development of new programme and training of 124 trainers in
  “Foundation Diploma in Equality and Diversity in the Workplace� certified by NUI Galway.
• 2003   Report on Training of Trainers for CEDEFOP, EU
  Published 6th Edition of the National Training and Continuing Education Directory.
• 2002   Appointed as Management Services Company for the Trainers Network and the TRED EU Equal Project
  (3 years duration).
• 2001   Establishment and provision of Business Mentoring Services to Enterprise Ireland and County
